MFA Program Audio Podcast Fellowship Virtual Open House |
the Audio Podcast Scholarship – a one-of-a-kind dual-semester program developed by Stony Brook Southampton Graduate Arts that focuses on training fellows in all things podcasting – hosts its annual open house. The event will take place on Thursday, May 19, from 7-8 p.m. and will be virtual to accommodate anyone who is interested.
The program, now entering its fifth year, has seen many of its alumni work in well-known podcasting productions including iHeartRadio, NPR, AIR Media, StoryCorps and more. Due to the growth of the podcasting industry and the demand for more skilled producers, editors and engineers, this year’s open house will focus on “Getting a Job in Podcasting” with information on the industry of Kerry Donahue and Nichole Hill.
Kerry Donahue is an audio journalist and a champion of new audio storytellers. She’s the executive producer of “The Refresh from Insider,” a new daily news podcast, and the executive producer of Spooler.fm, the tech company changing podcasting. As a trainer, Donahue led the audio program at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She was director of training at PRX, and she also created original, recurring, and downloadable audio at Audible before podcasting became a term.
Nichole Hill works with performers, current and aspiring podcasters, and businesses to define their concept, develop their narrative, and share their story with others. She specializes in podcast production, story coaching, audio editing, screenwriting and project management. Hill is the creator and host of “The Secret Adventures of Black People” podcast featured on Bello Collective’s 100 Outstanding Podcasts of 2020 and Indie Wire’s Best of 2020.
Anyone interested in learning more about the program, guests, or the industry is welcome to join and can RSVP here.
